Carlow to host 2nd Annual Business Day on 9th October 2024

County Carlow is to host its 2nd Annual Business Day on 9th October 2024. Carlow Business Day 2024 is being organised to support business leaders and anyone with a passion for innovation and growth and three significant events have been organised for the day. The day-long series of events offers something for everyone, from seasoned professionals to budding entrepreneurs, including those with an interest in the tourism sector.

Carlow Business Day 2024 is organised by a partnership of the Local Enterprise Office, Carlow Tourism, Network Ireland (Carlow), Carlow Libraries, Carlow County Development Partnership, County Carlow Chamber, KCETB (Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board), Carlow College, Bagenalstown Chamber of Commerce Group, Carlow & Kilkenny Skillsnet and SETU.

Launching Carlow Business Day 2024, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr. Fergal Browne said “ As we continue to navigate the evolving landscape of business and innovation, events like Carlow Business Day play a crucial role in fostering collaboration, inspiration, and growth within our community. Carlow has always been a hub of entrepreneurial spirit and ingenuity, and this day offers a unique opportunity for businesses of all sizes to come together, share ideas, and learn from one another. I strongly encourage everyone, from seasoned business leaders to emerging entrepreneurs, to engage fully with the activities and discussions on offer. Your participation not only enriches your own knowledge and network but also contributes to the ongoing economic vitality of our region. Together, we can build a brighter, more prosperous future for Carlow”.

The day will begin with an energising Business Breakfast at Carlow College, featuring the renowned motivational speaker and mental health advocate, Enda O’Doherty. His presentation, “I’m Fine! – Thoughts of Life, Addiction, Love, and Health,” promises to be a powerful and moving exploration of the human experience.

Drawing from his own life journey, Enda will share insights on resilience, overcoming addiction, building meaningful relationships, and embracing holistic well-being. This is more than just a talk, it’s an opportunity for business leaders to start their day with a heavy dose of motivation and reflection.

Following the breakfast event, Enda will extend his influence by visiting a local boys' school, where he will conduct a workshop aimed at empowering young men to navigate life’s challenges with strength and purpose.

At 11:00am the focus will shift to those at the beginning of their business journey with "Start Up to Success - Pathways to Business Excellence," taking place in the Haughton Building at South East Technological University’s Carlow Campus. This session, led by Noel Davidson, will provide startups with crucial insights into navigating the complex landscape of entrepreneurship, particularly in securing funding and making informed business decisions.

Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur or an emerging business owner, this seminar offers invaluable advice and guidance to help you chart a path to success. With expert-led discussions and support from various agencies, this event is a must-attend for anyone looking to take their startup to the next level.

The final event of the day will cater specifically to those involved in or interested in the tourism industry. Hosted at the Seven Oaks Hotel, this networking lunch will be followed by a presentation from Pól Ó Conghaile, the Irish Independent's Travel Editor, titled “Tomorrow’s Tourism: Embracing Sustainability and Innovation.”

As tourism continues to evolve, Pól will offer insights into the future of the industry, with a focus on slow tourism, sustainable practices, and the integration of technology. The discussion will align closely with Carlow’s own tourism brand, "Wander Off the Track," making it particularly relevant for local businesses. In addition, Coilín O'Reilly, Chief Executive of Carlow County Council, and Justine Carey, Regional Programme Manager at Fáilte Ireland, will provide their invaluable insights on how businesses can adapt and thrive in this changing landscape.

Speaking about why people should attend the event, Kieran Comerford, Head of Economic Development & Enterprise with the Local Enterprise Office in Carlow County Council said  “Carlow Business Day 2024 is more than just a series of events, it’s a comprehensive experience designed to inspire, educate, and connect.
