Student Enterprise Awards – County Final
The Carlow County Council's Local Enterprise Office is proud to announce the upcoming Student Enterprise Awards County Final, scheduled for Tuesday, 4th March 2025, from 1:45 PM to 2:30 PM. This esteemed event will showcase the innovative micro-enterprises developed by the brightest young entrepreneurs from across County Carlow, as part of the national Student Enterprise Programme.
The Student Enterprise Programme, an initiative by the Local Enterprise Offices nationwide, offers secondary school students the opportunity to experience firsthand the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. Participants develop, market, and manage their own businesses, fostering essential skills such as creativity, resilience, and business acumen. The county final serves as a platform for these young innovators to present their enterprises, with the prospect of advancing to the national finals.
We are honoured to welcome two distinguished guests to this year's event:
Cathaoirleach Fergal Browne: A dedicated public servant, Councillor Browne has been an influential figure in Carlow's local government since his election to Carlow County Council in 2009. He has previously served as Cathaoirleach from 2014 to 2015 and was re-elected to this esteemed position in 2024. Beyond his political endeavours, Councillor Browne is the principal of St. Joseph’s National School in Carlow Town and holds a Master's in Education from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra. His commitment to education and community development has significantly contributed to the betterment of Carlow.
Alan O’Reilly of Carlow Weather: Alan O'Reilly has garnered widespread recognition as the founder and primary forecaster of Carlow Weather, a platform that provides accurate and timely weather updates for the region. His expertise and engaging communication style have made him a trusted source for weather information among the local community. Alan's dedication to keeping the public informed has solidified his status as a prominent figure in Carlow.
The Student Enterprise Awards County Final is not only a celebration of youthful innovation but also a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit thriving within our schools. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the next generation of business leaders as they present their creative ventures, reflecting the dynamic and enterprising future of County Carlow.
