Making It Happen

Female entrepreneurs and budding businesswomen from across Cork and Kerry are encouraged to register for year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day.  The Local Enterprise Office (LEO) initiative for the South West Region will be hosted by LEOs Cork and Kerry on Thursday, 17th October in Maryborough Hotel, Douglas, Cork.

The event is designed and led by women to promote and encourage female entrepreneurship.  National Women’s Enterprise Day shines the spotlight on female entrepreneurship and opens the prospect of entrepreneurship to women who may not have considered it before, highlighting the supports available.  The event also provides valuable networking opportunities to connect with industry experts together with acknowledging the achievements of women in enterprise.

The theme of this year’s event, “Making It Happen”, will encourage businesswomen to take that next step whether that be to act on an idea, grow their business or take steps to change or innovate in their business.  The events will outline the key supports that are available from financial and consultancy to training and mentoring to help them along the way from starting out right through to bringing a business to global markets.

Susan HayesCulleton (The Positive Economist) will be the day’s MC, network facilitator and interviewer.  The interactive Panel Discussion of ‘Leading Lights’ representing LEOs Cork and Kerry are Bhagya Barrett (Rebel City Distillery) who is also the event’s Regional Ambassador,  Hanna Bäckmo (Hanna’s Bees), Barbara Connelly (Atlantic School of English & Active Leisure), and Jo Arbon & Clair Kelly (The Holistic Hound).  The afternoon will feature a ‘fireside chat’ with special guest, Kathryn Thomas (Pure Results Ltd.) well known TV & Radio Broadcaster, Author, Columnist and Entrepreneur.

Dr. Niall O'Keeffe, Head of Enterprise at Cork City Council said: “National Women’s Enterprise Day is a significant event in our calendar each year.  A celebration of female entrepreneurs and businesswomen, the event informs and inspires women at all stages of the business development journey.   There is a great line-up of speakers and inspirational businesswomen for next month’s event which will also provide an opportunity to network and discover what supports are available for entrepreneurs in the region.”

Women in business at all stages of their entrepreneurial journey and from all sectors are welcome to the South West event ….from entrepreneurs with a business idea to start-ups and well-established businesses.  Don’t miss out on this unique networking opportunity and celebration of women in business.
