Cork City Council is exploring options to enhance support measures by which small businesses active in the cultural and creative spheres may increase their competitiveness, including through a specific focus on tourism opportunities as a diversified revenue stream. This stems from involvement in the EU Cult-CreaTE project (INTERREG Europe) to harness the overlooked economic potential of this broadly-defined sector in this direction - particularly in developing innovative visitor experiences. With this in mind, the Council is now designing a tailored business development and mentoring programme to be rolled out later this year through LEO Cork City. In exploring and discussing issues, potential and pitfalls around how tourism dividends can be harnessed by cultural and creative individuals, firms or groups post-COVID, this event - which will include relevant local case studies - will seek input and feedback from interested stakeholders to inform this process by properly reflecting user needs.
