North Cork - Kanturk Retail Programme

 

Local Enterprise Office Cork North & West help Kanturk Retailers to excel.

 

Kanturk retailers worked with Irelands leading retail consultant this summer to help grow their businesses.

The Local Enterprise Office Cork North & West Retail Programme has engaged with 10 Kanturk retailers on the programme which involved leading consultant James Burke.The Retailers included Alan Grace, Graces, Patricia Murphy, Burkes Furniture, Dan Dennehy, Bobs Bar and Restaurant, Joan Harman, Photoshop, Cathal Burke, Tim Burkes Tiles and Bathrooms, Josephine Leonard, The Forge, Patricia Moylan, The Daily Grind, Cathal Cronin, Cronin’s Butchers, Mairead O’Keeffe, New Leaf Health & Wellness, Val Keane, Horgan Pharmacy Group and Niall O’Keeffe, The Forge.

 The programme was completed this week in the Edel Quinn Hall in Kanturk and hosted by the Local Enterprise Office Cork North & West.

The programme was aimed at owner/managers of retail outlets in Kanturk town. The programme entailed 4 days of training (1 day of training per month) as well as a store audit and visual merchandising audit. Ireland's leading retail consultant and advisor James Burke delivered the training workshops and store audit on behalf of the Local Enterprise Office Cork North & West. His colleague Celine Cummins delivered the visual merchandising workshopand audit.Individual store audit: As retail advisors to the TV programme "Fergal Quinn' Retail Therapy" James Burke operates in an environment where stores have to be assessed and recommendations made at very short notice. Using checklists and score cards, an in store audit conducted by James Burke together with the store owner/manager over a 2 hour period. The business was reviewed under a number of headings and the visit was customised to each of the retailers and their own individual needs.

At the presentation of Certificates at the final day of the Programme, Joan Kelleher, Business Information Advisor’ Local Enterprise Office Cork North & West said, “now more than ever it is important that local retailers explore new ways to bring a fresh approach to their business which will not only aid them in the long term success but also breadth new life into how they work together for the development of the town of Kanturk.”
