Prints of Ireland was established in 2020 by founders Peter O’Neill and Heather Gilroy, who are based in Ardgillan Castle Studio’s, Balbriggan. They saw a unique opportunity to celebrate Irish towns and culture through custom art. Noticing a gap in the market when they couldn't find prints of their own hometown of Skerries, they began creating bespoke prints and illustrated maps of Ireland’s towns, iconic landmarks, and counties. Their collection now includes wall prints, greeting cards, and tote bags that pay homage to Ireland’s rich language and landscapes.
The business has benefited from support through Fingal Local Enterprise Office (LEO), including taking part in the LEAN Programme 2024, which helps businesses understand where they can identify and reduce waste within their process. They also participated in the Export Development Programme, which aims to prepare SMEs to be ‘export ready’ by improving their strategic, sales & marketing, business planning, productivity, and leadership capabilities. In 2023, Prints of Ireland was also a proud finalist at the Fingal Enterprise Awards, highlighting its role as a dynamic small business within the local community. In 2022, they were awarded the Priming Grant which covered expenses including salaries, capital investment, consultancy, and marketing costs. Recently Prints of Ireland supplied the tote bags for the National Women’s Enterprise Day event, which was hosted by LEO Fingal on behalf of the four Dublin LEO’s, the event took place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Blanchardstown with over 300 attendees.
Today, Prints of Ireland operates a thriving online store and works with over 40 retail stockists across Ireland. With a mission to become Ireland’s leading art print and greeting card brand, the company aims to make the Irish language and culture accessible and celebrated in homes and shops worldwide.
In a visit to the Fingal LEO office, Minister Neale Richmond, the then Minister of State for Employment Affairs and Retail Business, met with Peter and Heather to discuss their journey and the impact of their business. He noted, “It’s been fantastic to visit the Local Enterprise Office here in Fingal and meet with the LEO team and a range of diverse client companies who provide an impressive array of products and services in the locality.”
