Trio of National Awards for Fingal’s Student Entrepreneurs

The National Final hosted over 80 projects from all across Ireland competing for one of the coveted national awards across three categories. The Fingal students had researched, developed and ran their own businesses since September, as part of the Fingal Student Enterprise Programme.

At the National Final, a Special Merit Award in the Senior Category went to ‘Music by Numbers’ from Castleknock Community College, for their new system of learning piano scales. The students will now participate in the ‘Winners’ Bootcamp’, supported by Ulster Bank at the Nexus Innovation Centre in Limerick.

In the Intermediate Category, ‘Lyetech’ from Colaiste Choilm in Swords were awarded the Intellectual Property Award by the Irish Patents Office for the ‘iAwake’, an earpiece that prevents drivers from falling asleep behind the wheel (the Lyetech students also recently appeared on RTE's "Junior Dragon's Den!).

The third award went to ‘Comfort Crutch’ from Skerries Community College, which won second place in the Junior Category with a branded cushion for crutch handles. Read more.

Congratulations to all the participating students and teachers for their unprecedented success at this year's Fingal and National Student Enterprise Awards competition.
