Tell us about your business and how it all got started?

We started the business in an effort to do something different. The business we operate in is very conservative in many ways and innovation in both services & technology seemed to be going on all around our specific sector. We decided to develop a set of business processes and strategies to help regulated companies and Connected Health startups achieve a new level of performance yet maintain the required compliance

What were some of the challenges you encountered in the early days of your business?

Selling and doing – that’s the biggest issue for small companies but we have an excellent combination in the team here. At the start with just the two of us though we needed to make sure we could sell and do the work at the same time.

Changing the buyers’ behaviour – Changing the buyers behaviour is always a difficult thing but we have managed to do this for one very high profile household name Pharma company

Headcount – As everyone in the service business knows it is very difficult to scale with headcount, particularly in this niche compliance/tech field

Cashflow – You just don’t realise how much things actually drain your reserves

What are the challenges that are particular to running your type of business?

Headcount & regulatory framework awareness. We need to maintain a knowledge of each of the global regulations and know the impact of changes or clarifications in those regulations

What was your big ‘break-through’ moment?

Conducting an audit on behalf of a client and realising where the consistent gap in the current offerings was. We have plugged that now with our GxP Cloud Hosting services for Life Science companies, SaaS companies looking to sell into Life Sciences and for Connected Health / IoT companies

Your Local Enterprise Office (LEO) has supported your business. Tell us about these supports and what impact they have had?

Well I had some absolutely priceless support from my LEO mentor Paul Murtagh. This advice has helped me gather the confidence to just get out and do it.

The funding supports have also really helped tip us toward making a move to hire people, which as a service business is the core of our company.

What’s next on the business agenda for your company?

Push the GxP Cloud services outside of Ireland. We need to establish a presence in the US and the wider EU block, establish appropriate sales channels and develop software to support our currently manual business processes.

What’s the best piece of advice you got about running a business?

‘What’s the worst thing that can happen?’.
