NATIONAL ENTERPRISE AWARDS 2025
COUNTY NOMINEE ANNOUNCED– HI-TEC MEDICARE LTD.
Hi-Tec Medicare Ltd based in Clogh, Castlecomer has been selected to represent Kilkenny at the National Enterprise Awards 2025. The National Enterprise Awards celebrate the achievements of Ireland’s micro-enterprise sector and recognize the achievements of companies supported by the LEOs. The final will take place on Thursday 22nd May in the Mansion House, Dublin.
Founded in 2016 by the company directors John and Catherine Doyle, Hi-Tec Medicare manufacture bespoke Orthopaedic Chairs and is highly regarded in the healthcare sector. Hi-Tec Medicare fully controls the end-to-end process from design through to manufacturing and delivery and can therefore fully stand over customer commitments linked to product design and delivery timelines etc. This family run business has become well established and today has a workforce of 12, including fulltime and part-time staff.
The Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council Cllr. Michael McCarthy made a presentation to the Directors of Hi-Tec Medicare and said: “We would like to congratulate John, Catherine and the team on their achievements to date and wish them all the best in the next stages of the competition”. He added “These Awards recognise the achievements of small businesses and recognise their importance in our local communities. We celebrate their hard work, their innovation & creativity and their contribution to the local economy”.
Commenting on the importance of supporting small businesses in improving productivity and sustainability Aileen McGrath, Head of Enterprise with the Local Enterprise Office said “The need to improve productivity and sustainability can help increase competitiveness and are important considerations for most small businesses. Hi-Tec Medicare Ltd are an excellent example of a local business who availed of LEO supports such as LEAN and GREEN for Business to help improve manufacturing processes and reduce waste”.
Since their inception the Local Enterprise Office Kilkenny has supported their incremental growth t in the form of both financial grant assistance and soft supports. The company has been approved priming and business expansion grants towards the purchase of capital equipment and salary costs contributions towards recruitment of new employees. The company has also availed of supports such as mentoring and training. They have undertaken initiatives such as Lean for Business along with Green for Business which has led to the implementation of LEAN manufacturing process improvements and reduced waste.
Hi-Tec Medicare Ltd will go forward to represent Kilkenny at the National Finals where there will be an announcement of winners from each region as well as the overall winner. The relevant region for Kilkenny also includes finalists from Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford.
