This course will equip participants with the tools to navigate the public sector marketing place and to understand the process of how to bid effectively for public sector opportunities.
Participants will learn how to write compelling tenders, with a practical “hands-on” approach through the use of templates and tools that participants can immediately use to provide comprehensive tenders and quotes to buyers.
Course Content
Topic 1: Public Procurement – Who buys what
- Understanding the wide range of organisations that fall under the remit of public procurement.
- Overview of the local economy.
- Understanding the need to proactively target and engage with buyers.
Topic 2: National Procurement Guidelines – How they buy it
- To develop an understanding of the processes buyers follow when procuring goods and services.
- Understanding the differences between quotations and tenders.
- Awareness of how Public Procurement policy is developed and
Topic 3: Navigating the public sector market place
- Introduce the data sources and navigating eTenders.
- Useful information – previous RFTs and contract award information
Topic 4: Bid Management – identifying what the buyer wants for this contract
- To explain the principles of bids and when businesses should bid.
- To develop an understanding of the process to be followed to bid
- To develop an appreciation of what buyers look for from bidders.
- To explain scoring criteria and how to interpret them.
Topic 5: Spotlight on Quotations
- Understanding the differences between quotations and tender – and the similarities between them i.e. why tendering techniques and tools will help deliver better quotes.
- Develop a strategy for winning first/more below-the-threshold quotes
- Provide a practical template to enable participants hit-the-ground running and deliver high quality quotes
Theme 6 Bid Writing – What goes in your tender and why
- Equip participants with a detailed description of the core components in a tender.
- Describe what a high-quality tender looks like.
- Provide participants with a structure for writing and submitting their ownquality tenders.
