No Ordinary Life: A Celebration of the Business Women of Sligo and Leitrim

Join us on Thursday 17th October 2024 in beautiful Juniper Barn, Ballymote for a joint celebration of the innovative, resilient, and very far from ordinary, business women of Counties Sligo and Leitrim.

Starting with tasty bites and informal networking at 6.00pm, the business of our evening will begin with a keynote address from our guest speaker Norah Casey.

Norah Small

Former Dragon Norah Casey is a Broadcaster, entrepreneur and philanthropist and a well-known radio and television broadcaster. Norah has amassed a wide business expertise of multi-million euro global success stories.

As well as mentoring leading global business leaders, politicians and public figures, her corporate expertise including leadership, corporate teambuilding, mentorship, innovation and strategy. Her specialty is women’s empowerment, gender equality in corporate leadership teams and diversity.

We will then be joined by our amazing panellists Isabel Claffey and Jo O'Brien to discuss their less than straightforward, but always interesting, professional paths.

isabel Isabel Claffey is a Dublin-born, Sligo-based Theatre Practitioner who started her career in Hotel and Catering. Not content with the unsociable hours and drama of hospitality, she returned to her first love of Theatre and has never looked back! Past productions include work at the Abbey, the Civic and the Helix Theatres, more recently with Cairde Festival and Broken Talkers Theatre Company.  She enjoys teaching Drama, from Toddlers to octogenarians and everyone in between as well as devising and directing for community groups taking to the stage for the first time. Isabel loves to produce her own work and has been facilitated in doing so through the Sligo County Council Arts Office and the Hawk’s Well Theatre.

Jo 4Jo O’Brien is a dedicated family woman who is committed to the local community. After studying Hotel Management, Jo successfully managed a number of restaurants in the UK, before establishing Vittos restaurant in Carrick on Shannon, which she successfully ran for over 18 years. After selling Vittos restaurant, Jo took some time to reflect before the recent establishment of her new business Circle Edge Athleisure Wear.

There will be lots of opportunity for questions and time for structured networking. The evening will be faciliated by our dynamic duo Fran Best and Maeve McCormack!

Note: Bookings include the cost of bus transport from Sligo Town to Juniper Barn and back again
