NutShed Limited based in Nenagh was set up by sisters Evie & Eliza Ward.  The company manufacturers award winning peanut butters as well as gluten, dairy free, refined sugar free plant-based treats and energy balls.  Together, Evie & Eliza Ward have grown their business from a humble market stall in 2014 to a thriving manufacturing business and brand supplying their products to cafes, delis, salad bars, as well as independent retailers and high street stores such as Dunnes Stores, Tesco, Avoca & SuperValu.  

Since moving into their LEO supported production unit in Q4 2017, NutShed has upscaled and streamlined the operation to provide a next day delivery service for the ever-expanding needs of today’s conscious consumer.  Their current range includes a variety of Peanut Butters including Smooth, Honey Roasted, Chocolate, Harissa Chili, Very Crunchy and Cinnamon & Raisin. The plant-based treats include Peanut Butter, Coconut & Cacao, Orange & Sesame, Lemon & Turmeric, Ginger Spiced, Peanut Caramel, Raw Caramel and Beetroot Brownies. 

Steeped in the world of food and entrepreneurship, it is little wonder that the sisters decided to set up their own food enterprise having worked alongside and learned from from their parents Peter & Mary Ward of the renowned Country Choice in Nenagh. 

NutShed was incorporated in 2016 and commencing operations in 2018 and has grown employee numbers to 8 fulltime and 1 part time staff members.   In 2019 NutShed launched their first two retail products at Bloom in the Park and by 2020 they had secured two International Great Taste Awards, the world’s largest and most trusted food awards!   The judges recorded that they stood out amongst a competitive category!  They have been awarded Great Taste Awards each year since then.

In 2021 their range expanded and they launched into Dunnes Stores having been spotted at Bloom in the Park in 2018!  In 2022 the sisters began to look further afield and began exporting to South Korea and they believe they can increase exports to 60% within 5 years!   The following year the company became proud members of Bord Bia’s Origin Green and never to stand still, they have just received their BRC food safety accreditation which should open up the possibilities to export to even more international markets.

NutShed has been supported since 2017 by LEO Tipperary and have availed of a Priming, TAME & Business Expansion grants as well as a myriad of mentoring and business consultancy grants to help grow the business to what it is today. 

The company will represent LEO Tipperary at the National Enterprise Awards competition which takes place in May 2024.
