This Start Your Own Business course has been developed for those who are thinking of starting a small business or those who have a business that is running less than 2 years. 

This programme allows entrepreneurs explore and learn through play. Participants will experience theory by applying it to their businesses in the real world. The entrepreneurs will learn and apply skills as the sessions progress, culminating with them having a prototype of their business model established, which they will have begun the testing process on. This programme will provide individuals who are seeking to start their own business with the skills, management tools and expertise in making the right decisions, planning and organising effectively.

The course has been designed to build your practical business skills in the following areas:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Preparing a Business Plan
  • Legal Issues for Start Ups & GDPR
  • Market Research & Marketing
  • Digital Marketing & Social Media
  • Finance - Cash flow, Profit & Loss & Ratio Analysis
  • Taxation

Dates & Time:  9.30am - 4.30pm each day

  • Session 1 -  2nd October
  • Session 2 -  9th October
  • Session 3 -  16th October
  • Session 4 -  23rd October
  • Session 5 -  30th October

  • This training is for businesses currently trading or planning on trading in Waterford City or County. If you are based outside of Waterford please contact the relevant LEO to access a similar service. Training Partner:

Dermot O’Reilly in the director and Principal Consultant of Zenith Consulting.

Dermot is a purpose driven individual with over twenty five years management experience in a variety of different sectors, from manufacturing to arts management.

His specialities are in innovation, entrepreneurship, business model development, strategic planning, design thinking, management development, experiential management and the application of lean tools. 

He holds an MBS (marketing), a Higher Diploma in Service Design and Innovation, a Post Graduate Certificate in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and an Honours Degree in Applied Economics.
