My Name is TED Limited is a brand new Irish Luxury Tech leather bag and accessories brand based in Mullingar

How did the company begin?

The company and brand have been built on the inspirational heritage story and legacy of a saddle maker, Ted Carbery. Ted made leather bags and accessories using his mouth and left hand after suffering an aneurism. We specialise in designing and manufacturing luxury leather bags and accessories with technology features, such as our Smart Pocket to charge your electronic devices on the move. We have incorporated a secure clip for your GPS tracking tag so you are always connected to your bag. Each of our bags and products has a cross functionality adaptable in business and lifestyle. Our carrying solution enables you to convert your bag from a messenger to a backpack or you can remove the strap to use it as a handle bag.  

What are the bags made with?

Everything we make is from the finest materials available, 100% full grain Italian leather from Tuscany, with solid brass custom hardware and lining. We stand over every product in a range as we guarantee a world class finish.

When did you start trading and how many employees do you have?

We started trading at the beginning of this 2017 with one full time and one part time employee. Our extended virtual team extends across Ireland, Italy and Spain.

What assistance did LEO Westmeath give to you?

From the very early stage of our business we have been working closely with the Local Enterprise Office Westmeath. We are grateful for the expertise and mentoring and grant support we have received.  The Feasibility study assistance enabled us to research the market opportunity for our products and supported the prototype process which, has led to our first collection of luxury tech bags and accessories to address a huge gap in today’s fast growing market.

LEO supported our attendance at this year’s Showcase Ireland exhibition, where Minister Mitchell O’ Connor announced My Name is TED as the winner of the inaugural Local Enterprise Showcase Awards for emerging Irish design businesses. We have established contacts with a number of retailers in Ireland and abroad as well as helping in building brand awareness within the Irish retail industry. The support we have received to date from LEO Westmeath has been a key part in establishing solid foundations to build a successful business online and to Irish and Global retailers.
