Athlone Chamber, Linked Financial and LEO Westmeath Co-Host Successful Auto Enrolment Breakfast

Athlone Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with Linked Financial and LEO Westmeath, recently hosted a highly informative breakfast event at the Athlone Springs Hotel. The event was designed to educate and prepare local businesses for the upcoming changes to the pension auto-enrolment system, with focus on the criteria and costs for employers.

The breakfast briefing saw a strong turnout from the business community, all eager to learn about the implications of the new pension reforms. The presentation was delivered by experts from Zurich, who provided a comprehensive overview of the auto-enrolment process, highlighting the steps that employers need to take to comply with the new legislation. The presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session, where attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers, raising pertinent questions and concerns about the impending changes.

Chamber President, Regina Bushell said “As an employer I understand the financial challenges that auto-enrolment presents for businesses, but I believe these challenges can be transformed into valuable opportunities for employers to enhance their financial planning”. Continuing, Regina Bushell added “Investing in employee retirement plans can lead to improved job satisfaction and retention, which will ultimately benefit the organisation over time. While I recognise that managing costs will be a concern for many business owners, seeking informed guidance from HR experts, accountants and pension advisors will be crucial in navigating this landscape effectively”.

In his remarks, Tommy Hogan, CEO of Athlone Chamber of Commerce, emphasised the importance of being proactive in understanding these new regulations. "As the government rolls out the auto-enrolment pension system, it's crucial for our members to be well-informed and prepared. This event underscores our commitment to supporting the local business community in navigating these changes effectively," he said. "We are proud to partner with Linked Financial and LEO Westmeath to bring this valuable information to our members, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge they need to succeed."

The Chamber of Commerce extends its gratitude to Linked Financial, LEO Westmeath, Zurich, and all attendees for making the event a success. The Chamber remains dedicated to providing ongoing support and resources to help businesses in the region adapt to new challenges and opportunities.
