In 2018, Barry Doherty conceived an idea for a product, and by 2020, he successfully developed the biostimulants featured in C&B’s Agri product line. C-BIO specialises in the processing of locally sourced sustainable seaweed, Ascophyllum nodosum with meticulous precision.
Barry transforms this abundant natural resource into extracts that find applications in both agriculture and animal feed. Derived from seaweed and fish, these biostimulants are carefully crafted to augment crop vigour, increase yields, and elevate overall crop quality.
Located in Dunkineely, the business employs six full-time and one part-time staff members and is focussed on growth, not only in terms of efficiency, but also in terms of geographical reach, delivering an unparalleled customer experience for distributors and member companies. C-BIO is emerging as a worldwide leader in the production and distribution of seaweed-based products.
Supports from LEO
Commenting on the support C&B Agri received from the Local Enterprise Office, Barry said:
From the outset at C&B Agri, we've harnessed the invaluable support provided by the Local
Enterprise Office in Donegal. We availed of the Technical Assistance for Micro Exporters grant which allowed us to travel to the USA to secure commercial contracts, as well as the Feasibility Study and Business Expansion Grant, which enabled us to employ an additional staff member. I highly recommend contacting the Local Enterprise Office to find out how they can help your business. For companies that are already up and running, there’s a range of supports to help drive growth such as mentoring, e-commerce, digitalisation, and management development. Established businesses looking to enhance their processes can also benefit from Lean, Green, and Digital supports, contributing to increased efficiency and cost reduction.
