A craft and design business from Meath has been shortlisted for the finals of the Business of Craft Awards as part of Local Enterprise Showcase at Showcase 2024 later this month.
Kyna Brady of Kyna Maree who is supported by Local Enterprise Meath has been shortlisted in the Newcomer category for the inaugural Business of Craft Awards.
Kyna Maree based in Batterstown is a small luxury accessory brand, crafting key pieces for everyday, wedding day and special occasions. The stylish accessories include contemporary millinery pieces, bridal headwear, veils, embellished headbands, jewelled clips and a range of statement and classic jewellery pieces. Established in 2016 by creative director and owner Kyna Brady, the business originally started as a bridal accessory brand and had to quickly pivot during the pandemic when all but a handful of weddings were cancelled. This time was used to redevelop the business and both everyday and occasion collections were added. In 2023, Kyna Maree exhibited at London Bridal Week where she successfully launched a wholesale collection and the much sought after bridal accessories are now available in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Speaking from her studio in Batterstown, Kyna says: “It is such an honour to be chosen as a finalist for the Business of Craft Awards. I am really looking forward to exhibiting at Showcase for the first time, where we are launching our Boutique Collection. This collection is a selection of stylish everyday and occasion jewellery and headwear designed to sit perfectly within fashion boutiques and luxury stores. I can’t wait to meet all the potential buyers and fellow exhibitors from Meath and I want to thank the Local Enterprise Office in Meath for their encouragement and support in being a first time exhibitor at Showcase".
Caoimhe Delany, Business Advisor with Local Enterprise Office, Meath: “The addition of the Business of Craft Awards to this year’s Local Enterprise Showcase at Showcase 2024 is a significant boost for the companies. It helps to highlight some of the best-in-class businesses from the design and craft sector across the country and we are doing that in front of key buyers both nationally and internationally. To have one of our Meath clients chosen out of more than 100 Local Enterprise Office clients is a testament to the level of skilled design and craft we have within County Meath. We are delighted for Kyna and wish her all the best at the awards on Monday 22nd January. On the whole, Showcase 2024 is going to be a huge event for our six Local Enterprise Office supported companies taking part. They get the chance to meet with buyers from all over the world and it’s three days that could change their business forever. We’ve been working closely with them all to ensure they can maximise their participation so there is a lot of excitement ahead of the event this year”.
The awards have three categories - Best Newcomer for the best craft and design business who is exhibiting for the first time; One to Watch for the best craft and design business who has excellent export and international potential; and finally Sustainability Champion for the best craft and design business who is excelling in sustainability.
