BREXIT ADVISORY CLINIC TO ASSIST CORK COMPANIES

Companies in Cork urged to become Brexit-aware

On the 11th April, Enterprise Ireland will bring their Brexit Advisory Clinic to Cork.  The clinic, which is being supported by Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cork North & West along with the LEOs in Cork City Centre and South Cork, it is open to all businesses across Cork and in neighbouring counties with the aim of making more companies Brexit-aware.

The clinic is free to all businesses and will educate them on their exposure to Brexit and how to ensure that they are safeguarding their business against the knock-on implications of Brexit.  The day long event at the Charleville Park Hotel will offer one-to-one appointments with leading industry experts on Brexit for companies to get tailored advice for their business needs.

 Kevin Curran

Kevin Curran, Head of Enterprise, LEO Cork North & West, said; “The uncertainty associated with Brexit is one of the key business challenges of our time.  Many small businesses may think it won’t affect them, particularly if you are not in close proximity to the border, but Brexit is already having an impact.  Whether selling to or importing from the UK, or buying from a UK-linked supply chain, then the potential impacts from Brexit are significant.

“The Brexit Advisory Clinic is a timely opportunity to bring some clarity to the uncertainty.  Looking at the possible impacts, whilst focusing on the various supports available to businesses, the event will help businesses to prepare for the various scenarios.  Both Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise Office have a range of supports and it is important that business are aware of these and access them appropriately. This is the perfect opportunity for businesses in the Cork and greater Cork area to understand the impact Brexit will have on them and the measures they can take to safeguard their business.”

The clinic aims to strengthen their capabilities in 3 key business areas; financial and currency management, strategic sourcing, and customs, transport and logistics.

Along with seminars throughout the day, the clinic will also give companies the opportunity to speak one-to-one with independent experts, who will provide company-specific guidelines and advice, while allowing company managers, founders and CEOs to privately discuss their circumstances and concerns.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion with local business leaders who will share best practice tips in the 3 key areas, and the actions they have taken as a response to Brexit.
