The Purple Flag Sligo
The Purple Flag
The awarding of a Purple Flag involves an accreditation process similar to the Green Flag award for parks and the blue flag for beaches. It leads to purple flag status for town and city centres that meet or surpass the standards of excellence in managing the evening and night time economy. Sligo is one of a number of the towns and cities across the UK and Ireland that have been awarded a purple flag. The award marks Sligo and the other recipients of a purple flag as one whose night time economy is enjoyable, entertaining, diverse and safe. The Local Enterprise Office views the Purple Flag as yet another attribute for doing business in Sligo.
