GROUND Wellbeing to represent South Cork at National Enterprise Awards

A wellness business from Ovens will represent Local Enterprise Office South Cork at this year’s National Enterprise Award for 2022.

Peigin Crowley of GROUND Wellbeing took the South Cork regions top prize and will now represent Local Enterprise Office South Cork at the 22nd National Enterprise Awards at the Mansion House in Dublin on the 2nd June.

GROUND Wellbeing will now be competing against 30 other finalists from every local authority area for a share of the €35,000 winners prize fund. Categories this year include ‘Best Export Business,’ ‘Best Start-Up’ and ‘Innovation,’ in addition to eight regional awards. There are also two new National Enterprise Awards this year with a “One to Watch” award and a “Sustainability / Green” award.

Speaking at a special luncheon to celebrate the award winners, Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Gillian Coughlan said, "I would like to congratulate GROUND Wellbeing on their award and wish them all the very best as they progress in the competition. The past two years have been an extraordinarily challenging time for businesses, but it is heartening to see how new businesses have harnessed their expertise and energy to build hugely successful businesses that are going from strength to strength. I wish them all the very best in the awards. I am certain that we will hear much more from them in the coming years as they grow their business.”

Previous winners of the National Enterprise Awards include Irish Yoghurts (1998), Obelisk (2000), Simtech Aviation (2008), Digiweb (2004) and Design Pro (2013), Terra NutriTech (2018) and Pestle & Mortar (2019). The last winners in 2021 were Bevcraft, who were supported by Local Enterprise Office Westmeath. Europe’s only mobile canning company have gone from strength to strength since winning the award opening new hubs across the continent.

The National Enterprise Awards are one of a number of initiatives that the Local Enterprise Offices run, to foster entrepreneurship across the country. Others include Local Enterprise Week, the Student Enterprise Programme, National Women’s Enterprise Day and Local Enterprise Showcase.
