Encouraging and promoting an enterprise culture at all levels within County Wicklow is a key activity of the Local Enterprise Office.
In seeking to develop a thriving enterprise culture in County Wicklow, it is important that young people from all backgrounds see enterprise as a viable career choice. Entrepreneurial qualities and mindset need to be fostered from an early stage, so developing an entrepreneurial ethos within our schools is essential we do this through the Student Enterprise Programme.
The programme allows students to have an opportunity to gain first hand experience of what it is really like to run a business - from the initial planning stage, financing the set up, to selling their products or services. Through this process, they learn both success and failure – both inevitable features of doing business. The experience of running a business brings many other benefits to students; it enhances creativity, improves communication skills and provides practical uses for business studies topics.
The highlight of the Programme is the national Student Enterprise Awards which are held each year.
