Our Rural Future - Streetscape Enhancement Measure 2022

Owners of commercial, residential or unoccupied buildings in Granard can now apply for Streetscape Enhancement Measure 2022 funding. This scheme will be administered by Longford County Council working in collaboration with local businesses and property owners with the aim of adding colour and freshness to our rural towns and villages.

What types of projects are supported?

  • Commissioning of murals in towns and villages
  • Upgrade or restoration of historic and traditional shopfronts
  • Provision of street planting, shrubbery, trees and flowers boxes
  • Illumination and lighting of architectural features
  • Installation of canopies and street furniture
  • Decluttering of streetscapes with the removal of unnecessary signs or wires

Eligible works include:

  • Works to individual properties (must be a minimum of 3 adjacent properties)
  • Works to standalone buildings are permitted in the case of derelict or vacant properties
  • Murals / Public artworks

Additional Information:

  • Grant funding will be provided at 80% of total project costs – matched funding of 20% required
  • Maximum level of support to any individual building is €8,000
  • Projects must be completed by August 2023
  • Closing date for applications is 23rd September 2022
