Course Aims and Objectives:

This course is designed as a workshop with opportunities to participant and contribute. The aim of the course is to give the participants confidence in working with their business’s books and records, and the knowledge needed to keep proper books of account and to deal with Revenue obligations. It will also give participants an understanding of small business accounts (The Books), especially the Profit and Loss Account and its impact on the business, it’s future and the business’s income taxes.

  • To explain and demonstrate the books and records that must be kept by business owners and in what format.
  • To teach and explain which expenses are allowed to be claimed by businesses and those that are disallowed.
  • To demonstrate and practice how to reconcile debtors, creditors and the bank account.
  • To explain the Profit and Loss account and Balance Sheet and how the Books update these.
  • To explain the difference between cash and profit and show participants an example of a cash flow statement and a forecast.

Qualifications and Background of delivering Trainer:

Sarah McGuinness, trading as SM Accounting Solutions was established in June 2004 as a training and accountancy practice. 

Sarah is a chartered certified accountant and holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance and first-class honours Certificate in Training and Continuing Education from NUI, Maynooth. 

She has over twenty years of experience and expertise in class-room training, mentoring, computerised accounting, business set-up and advice, accounts preparation and tax returns & compliance.

Once a course has been paid for our policy on returns is as follows:

  • 100% return of course fee if sufficient notice from the participant (i.e. not less than 5 working days.)
  • 75% return of course fee if the participant notifies us 48 hours prior to the commencement of the course.
  • No refund if the participant does not notify us at least 48 hours prior to the commencement of the course.
